For the love of Succulents!

jessica | July 26, 2016

At first I didn’t know if I loved these strange plants called succulents, but after my oldest, Lily, kept asking me to buy some(like all the time…seriously, kids are persistent), I researched all the different kinds out there, I quickly grew fond of them. One day in Austin we stopped by the Whole Foods and they had pretty impressive spread of succulents, so what did Lily and I do…..we loaded an entire cart! I found a really cool hanging old wooden crate and new this was my home for my succulents. I’m still new to the succulent world, but have fallen in love with these odd little plants.

  • Pebble rocks
  • Cactus and Succulent soil mix (I use the organic one)
  • Water Spritzer
  • Something cute and simple to place your plants in ( I chose a wooden crate)

Go grab a variety of cactus and succulents, I found these gems at Whole Foods!

Pour the cactus and succulent soil mix into whatever you decided to plant them in.

Then take the plant out of the plastic tray and place it into the soil and pat the soil around the roots.

After you have all your plants into the soil scoop the pebbles and pour a thin layer just enough to cover the soil.

Sprits the plants with a water spritzer. Remember cactus and succulents don’t need much water so don’t water them with a water hose! They also needs lots of sun!

Were hanging ours on our porch where the sun beams in!

Easter Table Decorations

jessica | March 21, 2016

Easter is right around the corner. I love to decorate my home for the Holiday. Easter is so special to me. It is a reminder of the LOVE that Jesus has for us and our hope for the future.

I like to start these at least a week before Easter.

I start out with:

  • throw away cake pans
  • potting soil
  • rye or wheat grass

First add a layer of potting soil. Just enough so that you don’t see the bottom.

Next add a layer of rye or wheat grass. Covering the potting soil. Gently press down. and then WATER…. Everyday…

Next I took wooden eggs from Hobby Lobby.  Decorate!!!!

Once grass has started growing. It will Absorb all of the potting soil & just remove from the pan.. AND… instant easter grass…

ADD eggs & rabbit…

The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. -Romans 8:11

He is Not here for He has Risen, just as He said! -Matthew 28:6

I am the Resurrection and the Life he who Believes in Me will LIVE, even though He DIES; and whoever lives and BELIEVES in Me will never DIE! -John 11:25-26

Living Off The Land

jessica | August 31, 2015

My mamaw nellie and papaw ted had a large garden while i was growing up that supplied all five of their kids and their families with fresh vegetables for the year. Well, now that they are unable to get out there and plant/harvest the vegetables i thought what are we gonna do now!!! So, i thought why don’t i just have a garden of my own! And although we don’t have a lot of land, we are utilizing what we do have.

I’ve also been working on a few other things we’ll delve in to like…… beekeeping…..raising organic chickens…….

About Me

About Me
Hello! My name is Jessica Robertson and I’m married to the youngest Robertson, Jules Jeptha, and yes I love the BEARD!

I am so glad you could join me on this endeavor of life without the cameras. I hope this lifestyle blog will encourage you, inspire you, and down right draw us closer together.

Life is short, so let’s encourage and lift each other up. I’m passionate about life and believe The Cure is LOVE! Doesn’t matter where you come from or how old you are, we are all in this together and we can learn from one another.

I know that without my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I’d be lost. And I live with the peace that Christ died for my sins and rose from the grave and now isn in Heaven preparing a place for me, that’s what my hope is in, that one day I will live for ETERNITY in HEAVEN with my GOD.

I’m a blessed mama of four. I’m a lover of all things vintage. I’m an oldie at heart. I may have been born in the wrong century. I cry when anyone else cries, which my kids make fun of. I want to be a farmer when I grow up. And last but not least, I LOVE my mate!

Hope you can join me on this journey of life, cooking, gardening/living off the land, fashion/beauty, sewing/creating, Holiday’s, and more.

Lets learn together!
